Insert carriage and Sherlock (sherlockcarriage.gif).Welcome to the website of The Sherlock Holmes Society of Austin, an officially sanctioned scion society, located in Austin, Texas.

Society members share an appreciation for the life and works of The Master, Mr. Sherlock Holmes, the world's first and greatest consulting detective. Through the study of the Canon--the case histories left to us by Holmes's biographer, Dr. John H. Watson--we gain new insights into the most interesting personality of the Victorian era. We also have the pleasurable company of our fellow members and enjoy a level of repartee seldom seen since the days of Oscar Wilde's aesthetes or the Algonquin Round Table.

We gather to enjoyably debate the finer points of the Master's cases and career. We also provide "show and tell" of Sherlockian memorabilia, undertake special projects such as staffing the phones for KLRU Public Television's fund drives, and occasionally take field trips to visit Sherlockians and Sherlockiana.

Becoming a member:

The main requirements are a desire to share in the study and enjoyment of The Master's work and the willingness to suspend disbelief in the interest of a good story.

  • We meet on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. for dinner. (See calendar.)
  • Prospective members are welcome at our meetings to "try things out." We enjoy meeting others who share our interests.
  • Everyone pays their own dinner check, but there is no other cost for the meetings.
  • There is a modest annual membership fee ($15), which is normally paid after attending three or four meetings.

Thanks for your interest!
